How to compress a PDF
Frequently asked questions
What does Compress PDF do?
It creates a new PDF from the selected document at a controlled page-rendering quality, which can reduce the file size.
How do I compress PDF files?
Select your PDF, choose a compression level, and start the real compression process. The browser renders the pages at a controlled resolution and creates a new PDF.
Can I compress several PDF files at once?
Yes. This page processes one PDF per compression job.
Can I compress PDFs and images together?
Yes. This compression page accepts PDF input.
Can I put an image between two PDF files?
Yes. Arrange the image anywhere in the file list. The output follows that selected order.
Can I see what is inside an uploaded PDF?
Yes. The browser renders the first page of each uploaded PDF as a visual preview. The PDF itself is not changed by this preview step.
Can I see my JPG or PNG before compressing?
Yes. Supported images are shown directly in their file cards before processing.
Can I change the order of my files?
Yes. Drag the cards to arrange them. On smaller screens you can also use the left and right arrow controls.
Can I remove a file after selecting it?
Yes. Use the remove control on the file card to take that file out before processing.
Which file formats are supported?
The current tool accepts PDF, JPG, JPEG and PNG files.
How many files can I upload?
The current interface accepts up to 1 file in one job, subject to applicable processing limits.
What is the maximum file size?
The current interface allows up to 25 MB per file and 25 MB for the compressd upload.
Can I compress scanned documents?
Yes. Scanned documents can be included when they are supplied as supported PDF or image files.
Can I compress portrait and landscape files?
Yes. Files with different page orientations can be included in the same compressd document.
Can I compress JPG and PNG images with PDFs?
Yes. Both image formats can be placed before, between or after PDF documents.
Can I compress password-protected PDFs?
Protected or encrypted PDFs may not be processable. Docelora does not bypass passwords or access restrictions.
What page size is the compressd PDF?
Each source page is prepared as an A4 portrait PDF page before compressing, so the final document uses one consistent A4 page size for printing.
Will different PDF page sizes be fitted to A4?
Each PDF page and image is placed proportionally on an A4 portrait page without stretching the content before the compressd PDF is created.
Does compressing change my original files?
No. The original files selected in your browser are used as inputs; the service creates a separate compressd PDF.
How long does compressing take?
Processing time depends on the number, size and complexity of the files. The tool shows the current processing state while the job is running.
When can I download the compressd PDF?
The download control becomes available after the processing service has successfully created the final PDF.
What happens if my files cannot be compressd?
The tool reports a processing error instead of presenting an unsuccessful or incomplete result as a finished PDF. You can correct the issue and try again.
Can I use Compress PDF on a mobile phone?
Yes. The interface is designed for modern mobile and desktop browsers, including touch devices.
